X-ray

A digital x-ray is an imaging test that uses low levels of radiation to create high-quality images of the inside of your head, chest, spine, and other areas of the body.

What does a digital x-ray exam involve?

Digital x-ray exams are available at Neighborhood Radiology Services and can be done in a short office visit. Before the exam, you will be asked to remove all jewelry and accessories containing metal. During the exam, you can comfortably sit or lie down, depending on the type of x-ray being performed. You will be provided with a protective covering for any parts of your body that may be exposed to the x-ray that don’t need imaging.

During the x-rays, a special machine will create beams that go through your body and into a digital sensor. It is important that you try to remain as still as possible until the test is complete to ensure the highest quality images.

After your exam is finished, the x-ray images are stored electronically. Your doctor will review them with you on the screen to explain your results and go over any treatment or further testing, as needed.
